This 14" Front Suspension Rod from a Komatsu 830 mining haul truck came to us with over .032" of chrome thickness. We never recommend applying heavy chrome to a suspension rod. While hard chrome does increase the hardness of a component, it does not always adhere well in thick deposits. This presents a safety issue in applications such as this suspension rod. We solve this problem with a total re-weld. Our submerged arc welding capability restored this undersized rod back to its OEM size, hardness, and chrome thickness.
