Does HTCP recommend carbide or hard chrome for mining haul truck strut cylinder rods?
HTCP does not recommend carbide coatings for strut cylinder rods. We will apply them at customer request, but we do not recommend this application for carbide. When strut rods face heavy load, the mechanical bond of the coating (especially if applied in a thicker deposit) can flake off and cause cylinder issues. This is why we developed our proprietary total weld reman specifications for strut cylinder rods.
