This CAT 793 front wheel spindle was sent to us for remanufacturing of both bearing journal fits. It had been previously sprayed with a thick deposit of tungsten carbide, which had worn undersize and begun flaking off. We never recommend carbide coatings on drivetrain or suspension components. Their lower ductility presents higher risk of delamination under the extreme load of a haul truck. Our Total Weld Reman restored this spindle back to size and hardness with a metallurgical bond, removing the risk of delamination.
